A Film By Amanda Kasmira Cryer
"America's criminal justice system isn't known for rehabilitation. I'm not sure that, as a society, we are even interested in that concept anymore." ~ Steve Earle
In "Living UN DONE," filmmaker Amanda Kasmira Cryer exposes the raw pain of a justice system that brands formerly incarcerated individuals with a lifelong scarlet letter, shattering lives and families. This powerful short film unveils the emotional torment of a system obsessed with punishment, not healing—profiting from suffering with no incentive for rehabilitation. It lays bare the intertwined struggles of incarceration, mental health, and addiction that devastate countless individuals. Yet, amidst the despair, the cast and crew ignite a fierce call to action: we are all complicit, and it’s time to demand change. Beyond political divides, this is a human crisis demanding compassion, dignity, and second chances. "Living UN DONE" challenges us to confront our role in this cycle and co-create a future where redemption isn’t a distant dream—but a reality. The emotional punch remains, urging viewers to feel the urgency and hope for transformation.
The film also serves as a stark reminder that children, friends, and family can find themselves ensnared in a tragic spiral, causing harm that echoes far beyond the moment of impact.
Original Score by Joshua Datant Villareal. "Skin" performed by Zola Jesus.
