Cast:

Yusef Salaam is an American politician, a motivational speaker, and activist, serving as a member for New York City's 9th City Council district. Salaam is a member of the Exonerated Five.

Kate Boccia is the mother of Daniel Jay Boccia and is the CEO/Founder of the National Incarceration Association.

SB is currently serving life without the possibility of parole. He is a peacemaker behind the wire and his unwavering commitment to bring about change inside prison is witnessed by every person who comes into contact with him.

Betty Anne Waters put herself through college and law school for the sole purpose of helping her brother, Kenneth Waters who was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1983. Betty Anne worked tirelessly with the Innocence Project to bring about his exoneration in 2001. Her story was made into a Hollywood film titled 'Conviction', starring Hilary Swank as Betty Anne and Sam Rockwell as her brother, Kenneth Waters.

Billy Joe Holmes (Big Billy) served 30 years in prison. He is now a mentor and frequently requested speaker to audiences across several states on the topic of systems that fail to correct and rehabilitate. 

Kit Cummings is the founder of the Power of Peace Project, author, conflict mediator and tirelessly works to bring about change in the prison system.

Evelyn Ware Cox is the mother of Michael Alexander Cox, who is currently incarcerated for life. She is also a prison ministry advocate.

Idaira (Evie) Tavares is Daniel Jay Boccia's fiancé and the mother of Enzo.

Frank Boccia is the father of Daniel Jay Boccia.

At any time, a lapse in judgment—such as driving under the influence—could shatter lives forever. Our children, friends, family, or colleagues might find themselves caught in a tragic spiral, injuring or even taking a life, only to be plunged into a lifetime of torment. It’s not just the prison walls that confine them; it’s the relentless stigma that follows like a shadow, branding them for life with a digital scarlet letter.

Upon release, they face an uphill battle, often barred from meaningful employment and decent housing, with landlords conducting thorough background checks that serve as barriers rather than pathways to redemption. The cycle of recidivism is a grim testament to a system that fails to rehabilitate and instead perpetuates suffering.

‘Living UN DONE’ reveals the deep-seated impacts of a system designed to dismantle not only the lives of those incarcerated but also the lives of their families and communities. This narrative, while not unique, sheds light on the intricate web of interconnected systems: digital punishment, mass incarceration, the mental health struggles of those affected, and the pervasive issues of addiction.

Our goal with this film is to transcend political divides, reminding us that these aren't just partisan issues; they are human issues. We are all complicit in these systems, and it will take all of us—across the spectrum—to enact meaningful change. Together, we can advocate for effective rehabilitation and co-create a society that embraces healing, understanding, and second chances for all.

We found common ground and a common value while filming: Wellbeing for ourselves and all others.

So, that's where we began.
